Volunteer

Northwood community Arts is looking for volunteer members to join this growing enthusiastic and committed local organisation dedicated to delivering high quality community arts activities and facilities for everyone in the Northwood and North Hillingdon area.

The management committee meets every two to three months to plan and deliver a programme of family theatre, visual arts, and participatory events such as puppet making workshops, and creative initiatives for families, children and older people. The programme is devised to include all community groups including those who do not usually have access to creative arts facilities.

If you are passionate about local arts development and engagement, can bring experience or expertise in arts in the community, developing, marketing or fundraising and wish to offer time and commitment to the project, NCA would like to hear from you.
The group receives funding support from Arts Council England, London Borough of Hillingdon, Big Lottery/Awards For All and other Charitable Trusts such as Grass Roots.

Come and be part of a new community venture in Northwood with Northwood Community Arts! You and your family are invited to take part in a fantastic one-off arts opportunity to create a Community Canvas.

Funding was received last month by Northwood Community Arts, from Heathrow Community and Environment Awards 2011, for the creation of a new public artwork. As a result an exciting free arts event will take place at St John’s church in Hallowell Road during July and we need your participation to make this project work!

The programme commences with a Community Canvas design day on Saturday 16 July and culminates two weeks later with painting the actual larger-than-life size Community Canvas on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 July.

You and your family can join in on 16 July, when participants will be invited to either a morning or an afternoon workshop, led by experienced, professional artists Bhajan Hunjan and Said Adrus. You will be guided to experiment with your own ideas and to help create the initial content and layout for the ‘mural’ which will reflect arts activities in the Northwood community.

Bhajan and Said will take the work to their professional studio and will return on Friday 29 July to apply the design; you will be able to view their work in progress and to assist with painting the artwork that day and also on Saturday 30 July when it will be completed. So you will need your painting overalls!
